Nottingham Forest midfielder Alex Mighten featured for England Under-17s during their 3-1 victory over the United States of America at Chester last night. Mighten started the match for Steve Cooper’s side at the Swansway Chester Stadium, where goals from Arsenal’s Sam Greenwood, West Bromwich Albion’s Morgan Rogers and Wigan Athletic striker Joseph Gelhardt sealed the victory in the North West. Hosts England were forced to come from behind after DC United’s Griffin Yow fired the visitors into an early lead. It was the 16-year-old’s fourth appearance representing England at Under-17s level, having earned three caps during away wins over Norway, Portugal and Belgium last month. He even netted his first goals for the Under-17s during the victories against Portugal and Belgium. Mighten has also featured for England at Under-16s level nine times between July 2017 and April 2018, with his only goal at that level coming against Cameroon in March. The talented youngster will hope to feature in the Three Lions’ next game when they host Russia on Sunday afternoon. That game at Shrewsbury Town’s New Meadow ground kicks-off at 1pm before they round off the tournament against Brazil on Tuesday night in Telford.
