Wells strikes in QPR win

Published Nov 10, 2018 at 1:40 pm (Updated Nov 10, 2018 at 1:44 pm) Wells celebrates his goal for QPR against Brentford (Photograph by &QPR) Nahki Wells scored his second goal for Queens Park Rangers in their 3-2 win at home to Brentford in the Sky Bet Championship today. The Bermuda striker, on loan from Premier League side Burnley, struck on the hour mark with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner to give his side a 3-1 lead. Wells, who will return to international duty for Bermuda’s Concacaf Nations League qualifier at home to El Salvador next week, scored his first goal for QPR against Sheffield Wednesday last month. Brentford went ahead when goalkeeper Joe Lumley parried Said Benrahma’s effort out to Neal Maupay, who headed home. QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo equalised, tapping in after goalkeeper Dan Bentley had saved from Luke Freeman. QPR took the lead when Joel Lynch helped Toni Leistner’s header into the net before Wells fired in their third. Henrik Dalsgaard pulled a goal back for Brentford in the 81st minute. QPR climb to ninth in the table, just one point adrift of the play-offs. Jonté Smith’s played the full match as Lewes beat Merthyr Town 1-0 at home in the FA Trophy second qualifying round today. James Hammond scored for Lewes. Meanwhile, Amar Lewis played in Brightlingsea Regent’s 2-1 win at home to AFC Hornchurch in their FA Trophy tie today. Billy Hunt scored twice for Brightlingsea, while Leon McKenzie netted for Hornchurch.
