Ely Tigers recovered from a slow start to beat Wisbech 41-6 in London 3 Eastern Counties on Saturday. The visitors made the most of Ely’s lacklustre beginning to the contest by opening up a six-point lead thanks to two penalties. However, after responding with a penalty of their own, Ely took the lead before the break when Charlie Coupland danced away from three would-be tacklers to dot down. In the second half Ely fought hard to get ahead, with Coupland crossing again after the ball was fly-hacked through. Joel Scott Paul slotted a penalty soon after, before Ely’s man of the match Jacob Muncey scored a quickfire brace to put his team in command. The final try came courtesy of Matt McCarthy, who duly added the conversion to wrap up the victory. The Tigers have no game this weekend.
