Facebook is selling its 3D virtual reality sculpting tool Oculus Medium to software giant Adobe. The social media giant bought tech and VR firm Oculus for $2billion in 2014 and launched Medium two years later. Oculus Medium operated separately from Facebook, which pumped large amounts of funding into the app that allows users to sculpt, model and paint in an immersive environment. The app, used to create films and video games, works exclusively on the PC-based Oculus Rift headset. Terms of the sale have not been disclosed, but both Medium and Adobe expressed excitement over the deal. Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 8c, 7c platforms aimed at mainstream PC market
Qualcomm has lined up its Snapdragon platform to take on the likes of Intel and AMD in PCs, but it remains to be seen if the software ecosystem follows. At its Qualcomm Tech Summit in Hawaii, the company unveiled an expansion into the mainstream PC market. The company previously announced that Snapdragon 8cx platform, which is designed for always-on, thin devices with cellular connectivity. Now Qualcomm has rolled out the Snapdragon 7c and 8c platforms for PCs. Those two platforms are designed for entry-level computing as well as mainstream PCs. China’s digital publication market grows 26 pct in 2017: report
Video PlayerClose HANGZHOU, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The value of China's digital publication market was 15.2 billion yuan (2.4 billion U.S. dollars) last year, up 26.7 percent year on year, according to a report published on Friday by China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association. Some 378 million Chinese read digital publications in 2017, up 13.4 percent. Among them, 27.3 percent were middle-aged, and 1.2 percent were elderly, according to the report. The report showed that the number of e-book writers in China reached 7.8 million last year, up 30.2 percent. Meanwhile, last year, Chinese read an average of 10.1 e-books and 7.5 print books per person, it added. Sha Yuejia, vice president of the country's leading telecom operator China Mobile, said that more than 65 percent of the users of Migu, an online reading platform and subsidiary of the company, used the 4G network to read e-books.
