Lahore – The All Pakistan Business Forum (APBF) has proposed the budget makers to reduce tax rates with a view to widen the tax base and curtail parallel economy, also providing a competitive edge to Pakistan’s products in global markets. According to the budget proposals, the APBF has finalised sector-specific proposals for the federal budget 2018-19. Unveiling the budget proposals, APBF President Ibrahim Qureshi said that the APBF has submitted comprehensive proposals for the upcoming federal budget with main objective to bring liberal investment policy, infrastructure development, broadening of tax base and creating jobs through industrialization. A pre-feasible study on a VND10 trillion (USD434.78 million) expressway project has been submitted to the Ministry of Transport for consideration. Authorities of HCM City and Tay Ninh Province have worked on the project. The 53.5-km road will start from Belt Road 3 in Hoc Mon District in HCM City and end at Moc Bai Border Gate in Tay Ninh. The road will be 53.5 kilometres long The project has been recommended to be conducted in two phases. The first phase will build HCM City-Trang Bang section of 33 kilometres with four lanes, while the second will build Trang Bang-Moc Bai section of 6-8 lanes. According to the proposal, each side would cover the costs for site clearance by themselves with VND2 trillion for HCM City and VND1 trillion for Tay Ninh. About 100 cities have submitted their proposals for the special fund for “green” infrastructure, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said on Wednesday. “Currently, 100 cities are now processing their project proposals out of the 143 that submitted their expression of interest to avail of the funding,” Budget Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno said yesterday in a media briefing.
