Jurgen Klopp used to have one complaint about Sadio Mane. When the Senegal international committed his long-term future to Liverpool back in November, Klopp said: “The only criticism I could ever have of Sadio is that maybe at times he is the only one not to see just how good he is.” The penny appears to have finally dropped. The gifted attacker described by Klopp as “the complete package” has gone to the next level. A sense of humility remains but there is certainly no hint of self doubt any longer. Mane is playing with a swagger and is in the form of his life . The Senegal international has been the driving force in keeping Liverpool 's pursuit of Premier League and Champions League glory on track. Mane lit up the Allianz Arena with his match-winning double against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. It was his moment of individual brilliance which swung the last 16 tie the Reds' way after a scrappy opening quarter of the second leg. There was the instant … [Read more...] about Mane’s penny drops to end Klopp’s one criticism of Reds star

DRIVING THE DAY OUT TO BAT: Theresa May faces her first grilling from *actual voters* on her Brexit deal this morning, as No. 10’s frantic PR blitz continues. The prime minister will take questions from callers live on LBC Radio at 8 a.m., and you can be certain quite a few will be angry Brexiteers. May will also have to face LBC’s notoriously punchy host Nick Ferrari, who is known for pushing senior politicians into embarrassing on-air meltdowns. (See Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott in 2017, and then-Green Party leader Natalie Bennett two years before.) It’s a risky strategy for No. 10 given May’s difficulty in connecting with, well, ordinary humans, but has been deemed necessary as part of a wider PR push continuing through the weekend and beyond. “She needs to be out there now, selling … [Read more...] about POLITICO London Playbook: May goes out to bat — Gove will tear us apart, again — Penny drops?
General Electric’s options are dwindling. While slashing the one-time blue chip company’s dividend to a token 1 cent is rife with symbolism for new chief executive Larry Culp, the $3.9 billion of cash it will conserve annually is actually meaningful. Unfortunately, there is only a penny left to cut. Investors who cheered his appointment at the beginning of this month learned on Tuesday morning just how few rabbits the storied manager has to pull out of his hat and how utterly awful GE’s near-term prospects have become.... … [Read more...] about The Penny Drops at GE

Jurgen Klopp insists there is no panic or drama around the delay in blooding Fabinho. But the manager did reveal that it could take SIX months before the £40million midfielder — Liverpool's fourth most expensive signing ever — really settles into life at Anfield, and the intense demands of his gegenpresse tactics. The Brazil international is likely to finally make his first start for his new club on Wednesday at home to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, following his big-money summer move from Monaco. Yet Klopp has urged patience for fans worrying about the absence of a player who didn't even make the subs' bench for three of their seven games so far this season. He said: “It’s not really difficult. It’s just because it is so quick and so intense. It needs to be natural. “To improve something, you need half a year to make the next step. That’s it. We are not changing these players. We are not changing their football personality. They are here … [Read more...] about Klopp warns it could be 2019 before penny drops for £40m Fabinho at Liverpool
