The police said the men were looking for some fun. They had been drinking, having a party, and decided to go on a joy ride. They began circling the capital in a private bus, the police said, when they spotted a couple looking for a ride home. They waved the man and woman onboard and charged them each 36 cents. And then, the police said, the men beat the couple with an iron rod and repeatedly raped the woman as the bus circled the city. The woman suffered severe injuries to her head and intestines and required multiple operations, local news media reported, indicators of an assault so savage that India’s capital on Tuesday was shaking with public outrage. Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress leader, and West Bengal chief minister has met opposition leaders, including NCP leader Sharad Pawar, at Parliament House on March 27 to discuss the formation of the federal front against BJP ahead of Lok Sabha polls 2019. Banerjee is acting as a bridge to unite all opposition parties, including Congress, NCP, Trinamool, and also former allies of BJP to defeat BJP led NDA government in 2019 polls. NCP leader Tariq Anwar has added, “Mamataji too said she was committed to a united Opposition fight against the BJP-RSS. The Delhi Police arrested a 40-year-old man on Saturday for allegedly burning a copy of the Constitution in protest against the amendments in the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Leaders and workers of the Mumbai Congress held a protest outside the Dadar railway station here and strongly condemned the incident, which they said, disrespected the Constitution and its chief architect B R Ambedkar.
