(File: Congress logo) The Mumbai Congress staged a protest Monday against the alleged burning of a copy of the Constitution in New Delhi and demanded that those responsible for the act be booked for sedition. The Delhi Police arrested a 40-year-old man on Saturday for allegedly burning a copy of the Constitution in protest against the amendments in the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Leaders and workers of the Mumbai Congress held a protest outside the Dadar railway station here and strongly condemned the incident, which they said, disrespected the Constitution and its chief architect B R Ambedkar. A massive wave has become the largest ever recorded in the southern hemisphere, scientists say. The 23.8m swell was measured off New Zealand’s Campbell Island in the southern ocean, according to the country’s weather authority. At its peak, water would have surged to eight storeys high, says Dr Tom Durrant, senior oceanographer with the Metservice of New Zealand. Police have discovered more than 10,000 critically endangered tortoises in a two-storey house in a southwestern town in Madagascar. The animals, which are believed to have been poached, were found tightly packed across the floors in the building, surrounded by their excrement. Authorities said the house contained 9,888 live radiated tortoises, a rare species native only to Madagascar and 180 dead ones.
