December 8, 2019 by

Facebook is selling its 3D virtual reality sculpting tool Oculus Medium to software giant Adobe.   The social media giant bought tech and VR firm Oculus for $2billion in 2014 and launched Medium two years later.  Oculus Medium operated separately from Facebook, which pumped large amounts of funding into the app that allows users to sculpt, model and paint in an immersive environment. The app, used to create films and video games, works exclusively on the PC-based Oculus Rift headset.  Terms of the sale have not been disclosed, but both Medium and Adobe expressed excitement over the deal. Facebook is selling its 3D virtual reality sculpting tool Oculus Medium to software giant Adobe 'Adobe is one of the world's leading creation software companies, and they’re committed to providing best-in-class 3D and immersive tools for artists, including Adobe Dimension and the Substance tools suite,' Medium said in a blog post announcing the sale on Friday.   … [Read more...] about Facebook sells 3D virtual reality software Oculus Medium that allows game and filmmakers to model and paint in an immersive environment to Adobe

Virtual reality continues to make people sick

November 23, 2019 by

THE WHOLE history of fiction shows that alternative realities are an attractive and profitable idea. So back in the 1990s, when electronics had arrived at a point where people could build headsets that blocked off actual reality and replaced it with a virtual version created inside a computer, it looked as if something world-changing might have arrived. Games companies were particularly excited, and Nintendo, Sega and Virtuality duly piled in. The world, however, stubbornly refused to be changed. It might have put up with the low-resolution images, the choppy scene transitions and the poor controls, for these would surely have got better. It might also have put up with the price (the headsets in question could cost up to $70,000), for that would surely have come down. It could not, though, accommodate the dizziness, nausea, eye strain, vomiting, headaches, sweating and disorientation that many of the technology’s users (more than 60%, according to one study) complained of—a … [Read more...] about Virtual reality continues to make people sick

Everything You Need to Know What Is a Virtual Machine? Everything You Need to Know Virtual machines allow you to run other operating systems on your current computer. Here's what you should know about them. But they aren’t “real” systems. One computer could be divided into many “virtual” systems. The easiest way to do this is to use the free VirtualBox software. But the biggest question is… why? … [Read more...] about 7 Practical Reasons to Start Using a Virtual Machine

6 Tips for Faster Virtual Machine Performance

Advertisement Running software is a virtual machine (VM) is a great way to try apps designed for a different operating system. VM technology is widely used these days across a range of applications, from servers to desktop computers. But while setting up a VM on your computer might be straightforward, performance is always an issue. Here are six things you need to know to improve the performance of your virtual machines.1. Understand Host vs. Guest Operating SystemsIt doesn’t matter whether you’re using VirtualBox, VMWare Player, or a native option like Microsoft Hyper-V. Understanding the differences between your physical computer (Host) and the virtual machine (Guest) is vital for successful performance. The Host operating system is physically installed on the system’s hard disk drive (HDD). It is the OS that boots when your PC is switched on.Meanwhile, the Guest operating system is installed within the virtual machine. Passage of Citizenship Bill in Parliament will mark victory of Jinnah’s thinking over Gandhi’s: Tharoor

December 8, 2019 by

NEW DELHI: The passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Parliament will mark the definitive victory of Mohammed Ali Jinnah's thinking over that of Mahatma Gandhi's, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said on Sunday, asserting that the exercise of granting citizenship on the basis of religion will reduce India to a "Hindutva version of Pakistan". The former Union minister also alleged that the BJP government wants to single out "one community" and refuses to grant its members asylum from oppression on the same conditions as other communities. In an interview to PTI, Tharoor said even if the bill is passed by both the Houses of Parliament, he is confident that no bench of the Supreme Court will allow such a "blatant violation" of the fundamental tenets of India's Constitution to go unchecked. "It is a shameless performance by a government which as recently as last year, refused to entertain any discussion on developing a National Asylum policy, which I had proposed in a … [Read more...] about Passage of Citizenship Bill in Parliament will mark victory of Jinnah’s thinking over Gandhi’s: Tharoor
