Bad Box Office Numbers Don’t Make a Bad Film, Says Sonakshi Sinha

December 15, 2019 by

Actor Sonakshi Sinha says she found the courage to do smaller films courtesy the visibility that came with the commercial blockbusters which helped her reach out to a bigger audience. Sonakshi made her big Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg and went on to star in potboilers such as Rowdy Rathore and R... Rajkumar. The 32-year-old actor simultaneously headlined movies like Akira, Noor and this year's Khanadaani Shafakhana. "The big films that I've done and their success gave me the courage to do smaller films like that and take it all upon my shoulders. These big films have given me an audience that I wouldn't have got if I had started the other way around. I know that, which is why I am able to take those risks," Sonakshi told PTI. The actor said even though the films weren't successful, she still gets a lot of love for them. "As long as I do my job well, irrespective of the result of the film at the box office, I am happy. Bad box office numbers don't make a bad film. … [Read more...] about Bad Box Office Numbers Don’t Make a Bad Film, Says Sonakshi Sinha

Video PlayerClose SHANGHAI, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- "Wild Goose Lake," a Chinese independent art film previously nominated for the Palme d'Or of the Cannes Film Festival, has raked in a box office of over 190 million yuan (27.2 million U.S. dollars) over the past 10 days since debuting on the Chinese mainland. This is the second-best performance for a Chinese art film in the local market. "Long Day's Journey Into Night," a film from young Chinese director Bi Gan, holds the record with 282 million yuan. Diao, born in 1968, won a Golden Bear for the best film at the Berlin Film Festival with "Black Coal, Thin Ice". Harvey Keitel on his uneasy relationship with Hollywood

December 15, 2019 by

As mob boss Angelo Bruno in Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman," Harvey Keitel makes a brief appearance, but a lasting impression … just as he did as Ludwig, plotting a prison escape in "The Grand Budapest Hotel." Hollywood hasn't always considered Keitel, as he says, "bankable." Hut he's always memorable: He quoted Russian theatre director and teacher Konstantin Stanislavski: "There are no small parts, only small actors." Small parts in big movies such as "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," "Pulp Fiction" ("I'm Winston Wolf. I solve problems"), and "Taxi Driver."  It helped, he said, that "I had good training." The 80-year-old actor grew up in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, where his parents ran a series of luncheonettes: "Did you get put to work in those ever?" asked Mason. "Yeah, sure. I made the best egg cream in Brooklyn." "That's a trick!" "Okay, somebody get the chocolate. And the milk has to be frozen." "That's the secret?" "Yeah, for the creamy top." … [Read more...] about Harvey Keitel on his uneasy relationship with Hollywood
