DJ Jazzy Jeff was once one of the biggest hip hop and TV stars of the nineties. Thirty years ago, the iconic musician and his superstar collaborator Will Smith made headlines when they took the dramatic step of boycotting the 1989 Grammy Awards. The pair, who were nominated for best rap performance for their hit song Parents Just Don’t Understand, were outraged that the awards ceremony wouldn’t televise their award category. The snub was seen as part of the industry’s larger problem with accepting rap music, and the African-American community who produced it.DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith won the Grammy that year, but weren’t there to collect it, having made a stand along with other nominees from their category that year.“We chose to boycott,” Smith said at the time, and called the choice not to televise the award a “slap in the face”.“You go to school for 12 years, they give you your diploma, and they deny you that walk down the … [Read more...] about What happened to Fresh Prince of Bel Air star DJ Jazzy Jeff

Mick Mulvaney, Donald Trump’s budget chief and the acting White House Chief of Staff, is a very bad man who wants to abolish the Affordable Care Act and delights in shutting down the federal government. Mulvaney, sadly, finished last in his division. … [Read more...] about Mick Mulvaney Reportedly Bad at Trivia, Doesn’t Know Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Theme Song
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro is suing the makers of video game Fortnite for using his "Carlton Dance". The actor argues that his famous dance to Tom Jones song It’s Not Unusual has been unfairly copied by the game. His character Carlton Banks performed the moves frequently in the 1990s sitcom, which also starred Will Smith. Mr Ribeiro has often performed the dance since he debuted it on the show in 1991, including incorporating it into a performance on US Strictly Come Dancing equivalent Dancing With The Stars. In legal documents seen by TMZ, Mr Ribeiro says that he is in the midst of copyrighting the move, and that the game mimicked … [Read more...] about Fresh Prince star sues Fortnite maker over ‘Carlton Dance’
