Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has said broadband internet service in the valley will be restored on a “limited scale” in the coming days. “Curbs have been relaxed to a large extent. Phones are working (in Kashmir Valley). Amazon Is Quietly Launching A Local Takeout Service To Rival Seamless And DeliveryHero
Amazon has been tipped to launch a local services marketplace this year to rival the likes of Thumbtack, Angie’s List and Yelp. We have reached out to Amazon spokespeople to confirm the details of the service, but here is what we know: it will eventually go global, but much like Amazon’s Fresh delivery service for groceries, it will be a “VERY gradual expansion unless things go gangbusters,” says someone … [Read more...] about Amazon Is Quietly Launching A Local Takeout Service To Rival Seamless And DeliveryHero

According to one person with knowledge of the deal, the new investment values Coupang at well over $1 billion. Founded three years ago by Harvard Business School dropout Bom Kim, Coupang now has over $1 billion in sales — a milestone it reached faster than any other Asian e-commerce company. According to previous reports, Kim had the idea for Coupang after seeing the explosive growth of online retail companies like Groupon in the late 2000s. Realizing that the ship had sailed for a similar company in the U.S. Kim thought that the South Korean market, where shopping is a pastime, mobile phones are everywhere, and high-speed Internet is ubiquitous, would be an ideal country to … [Read more...] about Sequoia Backs Coupang, South Korea’s Answer To Amazon, With $100 Million
