Final days of lung cancer
‘My ugly nails were a sign I had lung cancer’
A grandmother who thought her 'ugly' nails ran in the family has praised them for saving her life and has shared her story as a warning for others. Jean Taylor, 53, said she felt "ridiculous" going to the doctor for her nails that curved around her fingers but her daughter Stephanie insisted she seek advice. The gran-of-three was horrified when her doctor diagnosed her with stage one lung cancer, less than a month later, after a series of painful tests, Manchester Evening News reports. Jean, who had always kept her fingernails short for work until starting an office job two months ago, just thought her newly-grown bending and swollen nails were a family trait, as her mum had them too. Her mum lost half of her lung due to cancer, but Jean had never thought that her mum’s bending nails could also be a symptom of the disease. It wasn’t until her daughter Stephanie, 31, googled Jean’s strange curving nails that she realised it could be ‘clubbed nail’ – … [Read more...] about ‘My ugly nails were a sign I had lung cancer’
