Sameh Shoukry held on Tuesday talks with his Sudanese counterpart El Dardiri Mohamed Ahmed during his first visit to Cairo to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as regional issues of common interests. The visit came almost two weeks after the nine-party meeting held between Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in Addis Ababa. The meeting aimed at resuming technical studies related to the controversial dam and its impact on Egypt and Sudan. Ethiopia is financing the $4bn hydropower dam on the Blue Nile River, the source of most of the water reaching Egypt. It has repeatedly denied, since it began the GERD’s construction, that its ambitious project will adversely affect downstream countries. Salah may catch up with national team mission in Cairo
CAIRO, May 29, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's Youth and Sports Minister Khaled Abdel Aziz Monday night said that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is in very good morale. "He is deeply grateful for the attention he has received from the Egyptian people topped by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi," the minister wrote on Facebook. Salah is expected to join the national team in Cairo just after Brussels friendly against Belgium, slated for June 6, he added. Salah will commence his treatment of a shoulder injury in Spain on Tuesday. The footballer was injured in Saturday's UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid after he landed on his shoulder from a tackle by Sergio Ramos. Chinese firms send food, hold charity iftar in Cairo during Ramadan month
Dozens of Chinese companies on Sunday sent hundreds of food boxes to the needy people and held a charity iftar table in Cairo's Maadi district, sharing the joy of Egyptians during the holy month of Ramadan. About 250 boxes of food were distributed and over 400 people came to the iftar, the breaking of Muslims' fasting during Ramadan. More than 2,000 boxes of supplies and 5,000 meals are expected to be distributed through Chinese firms in the next 15 days across Egypt including the provinces of Cairo, Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef and Aswan. The event was co-organized by the Chinese Embassy in Egypt and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, an umbrella group of Chinese firms operating in Egypt, in cooperation with the Egyptian Society for Integrated Development.
