It takes nerve to stand up to workplace bullies. And it takes guts to blow the whistle. It shouldn’t really, of course. It should be the most straightforward process in the world, because the working environment is a place where we should all have the confidence to speak out, assured we’ll be protected from those who would abuse their position of power or bend the rules to suit themselves. Checks and counterbalances should be in place, complaint systems and strict procedures should be followed, investigations should be carried out properly. So report potential wrongdoing. Then get back to doing your job. Simple. Except it’s really not simple, is it? A Lower Hutt high school has been singled out by students and parents for not doing enough to support victims of cruel hand-written notes on bathroom walls. Newshub was approached by the concerned relative of a female student at Taita College in Lower Hutt. The student (who will be called "student A"), who the relative did not name to protect her, has been the recipient of vicious graffiti notes written by other students. Student A had been named and told to kill herself in the note scribbled on a wall. The abhorrent message tells Student A to join another who committed suicide last year. SIMON Cowell has begun legal action against Bitcoin scammers who have been using his image to con fans. The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent judge is being used to tout a get-quick-rich con websites and social media. They are using his name and photographs to claim he’s boosted his millions by using a top-secret computer algorithm masterminded by a US financial whizz. The scammers have even written stories about the miracle computer program which they falsely claim have been carried by respected media outlets. But a spokesman for the music mogul said: "This is a false and defamatory online scam. “We are taking legal action but also believe action must be taken generally against such fraudulent phishing sites.” One of the false reports claimed Simon “recently more than doubled his wealth by using a push button software developed by an ex software engineer” named “Steve McKay” who they say is a friend. Teachers strike amid allegations of bullying at Sunderland school
