Vodafone Idea hits lower circuit after Chairman KM Birla’s comments spook investors
Vodafone Idea share prices fell over 5 percent intraday on December 9 after Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla had said that the company might have to shut down its operations if it did not receive any relief from the government. Birla's comment was followed by the Supreme Court order to pay dues of Rs 92,000 crore to the government related to the AGR issue.The stock of the telecom major hit lower circuit of Rs 6.23 per share for the second day in a row. It was quoting at Rs 6.53, down Rs 0.39, or 5.64 percent. It has touched an intraday high of Rs 6.64 and an intraday low of Rs 6.07. Japan stocks edge lower on profit booking after trade deal rally
Japanese stocks fell on Monday, slipping from an over one-year high hit in the previous session, as investors booked profits following an initial rally sparked by a preliminary trade deal between the United States and China. The Nikkei index ended down 0.29 per cent at 23,952.35 as the industrial and materials sectors leading the declines. It is up 20.03 per cent so far for the year. US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Sunday said a so-called "phase one" deal was "totally done", notwithstanding some needed revisions, adding that it would nearly double US exports to China over the next two years. With the total commercial and passenger vehicles sales, including exports in March, 52,479 vehicles were sold with, a growth of 3 percent over 51,184 vehicles sold in March 2014. The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for March 2015 were 47,044 units, a growth of 2 percent over 45,996 vehicles, sold in March 2014. Cumulative sales, including exports for the company for FY 14-15 were 502,281 units, lower by 11 percent over 566,695 vehicles, sold last year. South Korean investors dominate M&A deals in Vietnam
In the first six months of this year, the value of M&A deals reached almost $5.43 billion, 88 percent of which came from foreign investors acquiring stakes in Vietnamese firms, according to data released Wednesday by analysts at the Vietnam Mergers and Acquisition Forum (MAF) 2019. "South Korea has risen to be the biggest investor with M&A deals worth $2.2 billion in 2018. Their interests are finance, technology, real estate and consumer goods," the MAF report said. The biggest H1 M&A deal was struck in May, when South Korean firm SK Group became a big shareholder in the Vingroup conglomerate by pouring nearly $1 billion for a 6.15 percent stake. Last September, SK Group had also acquired a 9.5 percent stake in Masan Group, a major food and agricultural company, for $470 million. South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group last August spent $400 million on a 6 percent stake in Vingroup through its subsidiary Hanwha Asset Management.
