A single-vehicle crash closed Lancaster Drive Southeast in Salem early Saturday and knocked out electricity service to about 2,600 people. The busy four-lane road was closed between between State Street and Mahrt Street Southeast after the vehicle struck and knocked down a power pole around 12 a.m. The pole fell across the roadway. No one was injured in the crash, and the driver cooperated with deputies, Salem Police officials said. Portland General Electric was on the scene for repairs by midnight. But the fix was complicated, according to utility officials, and it was around 6 a.m. before power was restored.
