Over three million people tuned in to watch Princess Eugenie marry Jack Brooksbanks on Friday. The ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor was screened live as part of an extended This Morning special hosted by Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langford. During the transmission, it peaked at 3.9 million, up by more than two million viewers compared to the time slot’s average for 2018 so far of 856,000. It was the channel’s biggest audience at that time since the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in April 2011. ITV’s highlights programme aired at 8pm and was watched by an average of 3.4 million viewers. Overnight figures for ITV include those watching live and also on ITV+1. They do not include those who have recorded the broadcast or who watch on catch-up services. This is revealed after seven days. The wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in May was watched by a combined total of 11.5 million including those viewing up to seven days later. Princess Eugenie’s wedding celebrations are set to continue today with a festival themed party containing dodgems, coconut shies and food stalls.
