ONE of the longest established restaurants in Andover has reopened after being closed for two years. Light of Asia was re-launched by the mayor of Test Valley Councillor Carl Borg-Neal on Saturday, 20 January. As previously reported by the Advertiser it was shut down for refurbishment. Family owned since the 1970s, the Indian restaurant is co-owned by Abu Saleh and Abul Hasnath, who are the sons and nephews of the founders. Commenting on the refurbishment, Mr Saleh said: “Our goal has been to maintain the tradition of Light of Asia, while adding some modern style and comfort.” The curry house now includes mood lighting, a fully refitted kitchen, new bar, new seating and is now fully air conditioned. The owners says customers can expect a varied menu, comprising old favourites, traditional dishes with a new twist and an extensive selection of speciality dishes. Mr Saleh added: “Our aim is simply to offer customers a great dining experience, with fine food and good service in a traditional but stylish setting.
