Mumbai recorded the lowest maximum February temperature in a decade at 24.2 degrees Celsius on Friday. This was 7 degrees below normal, resulting in cool winds and pleasant weather throughout the day. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 14.4 degrees on Friday night, 3 degrees below normal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a similar weather for the next two days. In Mumbai, maximum temperatures have been dipping since February 4, going from 35.3 degrees to 27.3 degrees on Thursday. On Thursday night, the minimum temperature stayed at 17.6 degrees (normal). While the highest maximum temperature for February has even touched 39.6 degrees, the lowest maximum has never been this low in a decade. The closest it came to was in 2014 at 26.3 degrees. Explaining the phenomenon, K.S. Hosalikar, deputy director general of meteorology, IMD, said, “In a given month, there can be the highest maximum and the lowest maximum.
