MUMBAI: With the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court slated to next hear the First Year Junior College (FYJC) case only on August 8, vacant minority seats will most likely be left out of the centralised admission process (CAP) this year. After the HC’s directive to allow minority junior colleges to surrender vacant in-house quota seats for CAP rounds, the education department delayed the announcement of the third merit list, which was slated for Thursday. Click here to download the revised time table The list will now be announced on July 31 after allowing colleges to surrender the seats and letting students fill up admission forms again. The HC is hearing a plea by city-based Stree Shikshan Prasarak Mandal. The plea was converted into a PIL and the court banned minority colleges from surrendering quota seats for students from the general category. According to the education department’s revised schedule for admission, the fourth merit list, the final of CAP rounds will be announced on August 7, a day before the HC next hears the case.
