Chris Sikich Indianapolis Star Published 4:14 PM EST Dec 8, 2018 One Indianapolis man was killed and another was injured Friday night in a single-vehicle crash east of Marion in Grant County. Aaron Bates, 59, of Indianapolis, was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck north on I-69 when he drifted into the passing lane, over corrected and spun out of control, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police. The truck veered off the road, striking a ditch and several trees. Neither Bates nor a passenger, Henry Tillberry, 35, also of Indianapolis, were wearing a seat belt, and both were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, police said. Bates was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tillberry was flown via medical helicopter to an undisclosed hospital. Police are unsure what caused Bates to drift into the passing lane and lose control of the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. Call IndyStar reporter Chris Sikich at 317-444-6036.
