HS girls’ basketball roundup: Curtis wins three games, Tottenville takes two

Curtis had quite a week as it won three games in five days, capped by a 65-46 win over Murry Bergtraum in the PSAL AA Showcase Saturday at South Shore High School in Brooklyn.Allison Kaht (16 points) set the pace early by connecting on four treys in the first quarter. Arielle Spann (15 points), Oyin Oke (11 points) and Njeri Brooks (10 points) also played big roles.“It was a great team win,” said Curtis coach Talia Sutton. “The girls took care of the ball well and played great team defense. It was great for us to have contributions from all players offensively and defensively. We are going to need that going into our next game on Monday vs Susan Wagner.” On Friday, Curtis topped host McKee/Staten Island Tech 45-39 as Spann netted 11 points to lead the Warriors (10-2 in the league) to the PSAL win.That followed Curtis’ 53-48 PSAL Senior Night triumph over New Dorp on Wednesday.Seniors Spann (17 points), Alvina Davis (15 points) and Brooke Diaz (nine points) led the way.“It was a great Senior Night for us,” said Sutton. “The seniors really played with great energy and leadership.”The Warriors led 24-22 at the half and the game… Read full this story
