The event was part of the program "Coast guards accompany fishermen" in 2022 launched by Coast Guard Region 4. Thach Quang Giang, captain of Ship ST-00735TS, is a fisherman from Vinh Quoi commune, Nga Nam town, Soc Trang province. Giang's ship is operating in the area of Tho Chu Island, and it has not reached out to sea regularly since the beginning of 2021 due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is one among the local fishermen who have received gifts from troops of Coast Guard Region 4 on this occasion. He feels touched and happy when receiving the gifts from the coast guard region. He said that now he and other fishermen are able to reach out to sea thanks to the support of the coast guards. Meanwhile, Head of the Kien Giang provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Van Phich said that the program "Coast guards accompany fishermen" shows the responsibility of coast guards towards local fishermen.
