Social media giant Facebook is close to opening a new WhatsApp payment system in India after dealing with an audit problem, local media reported. The debut of the Facebook-owned cross-platform messaging application in the nation was reportedly delayed by Indian regulations, Trend reports citing Sputnik. The agency must provide information to a third-party auditor that all data on the service will be stored solely in India. Now the tech giant is getting ready to submit the report for approval to the Reserve Bank of India, a person familiar with the situation told Bloomberg news agency on Monday. In the meantime, WhatsApp declined to comment on the report. The death toll from a two-storey building which collapsed in the central Nigerian city of Jos has risen to 14 on Tuesday, the official rescue agency said, Trend reports citing Xinhua. The residential building in Jos North local government area of the Plateau State capital suddenly collapsed, causing panic among residents in the neighborhood late Monday. Seven people were earlier confirmed dead. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said seven more bodies had been recovered from the debris of the collapsed building during the rescue operation. Four people were severely injured, according to Nurudeen Musa, NEMA's head of rescue operations in Nigeria's north-central region. Local police said some seven people were rescued unhurt. Local sources said the landlord of the building and his pregnant daughter were among the dead. Peru's ex-president Alejandro Toledo, who is wanted in his country on corruption charges, was arrested early Tuesday in the United States, Peruvian judicial officials said, Trend reports citing Xinhua.
