Captain Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis and Sam Whiteman scored fifties as Western Australia posted a total of 307, with Jason Behrendorff scoring a quick 35 in the latter part of the innings. Behrendorff then accounted for the Tasmanian top three early, and they failed to recover from that as they ended up being bowled out for 148. Asked to bat, Western Australia lost Josh Philippe and D’Arcy Short early but a 99-run stand between Marsh and Whiteman gave them a solid platform. Marsh scored at a good strike, getting to a 48-ball 63 which included seven fours and a six. After he was dismissed by Tom Andrews, Whiteman registered a 62-ball 59 but he became Andrews’s second scalp.
