Each week throughout the season, five players will be nominated for their performances during games of the previous week. The winner will be announced in Thursday’s paper. Here are the nominees for the games of Sept. 7-8. D.J. Patrick, Sr., RB, Elmore County — Rushed 19 times for 306 yards and five touchdowns, including the game-winner with five seconds remaining, in a 35-28 win over Leeds. Tony Amerson, Sr., RB, St. James — Carried the ball 27 times for 303 yards, breaking the school’s career rushing record (3,464 yards), and five touchdowns a 41-19 win over Bullock County. Tripp Carr, Sr., QB, Autauga Academy — Completed 6 of 6 passes for 220 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-0 win over Coosa Valley. Parker Driggers, Sr., QB, Brantley — Completed 9 of 12 passes for 150 yards, rushed twice for 80 yards and a touchdown and reeled in 30-yard touchdown reception in a 39-0 win over Kinston. Tedarrian Murray, Sr., RB, Robert E. Lee — Ran 13 times for 151 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 25-10 victory over Jeff Davis.
